Sydney, 11 August, 2025 — Markel Insurance, the insurance operations within Markel Group Inc. (NYSE:MKL), today announced the appointment of Tim Wills as Head of Marine – Australia, with immediate effect.
Based in Sydney, Wills will be responsible for launching Markel International’s Marine products in Australia, starting with Marine Cargo. This comes as global trade volumes and values continue to rise, coupled with increases in vessel values, according to the latest annual Stats Report by the International Union of Marine Insurance1.
This will be the first time that Markel has expanded its offering in Australia, beyond the long-tail lines it launched along with its on-the-ground presence two years ago.
Wills joins from Tokio Marine Kiln, where he was Head of Marine in Asia Pacific and tasked with re-building the portfolio following a brief exit from the market in 2018. Prior to that, Wills held marine insurance roles at Chubb Insurance and QBE.
