Markel, the insurance operation within Markel Group Inc. (NYSE: MKL), has announced the appointment of Ray Lim as Financial and Professional Risks Underwriter. Lim brings extensive experience in underwriting and deal life cycle management from his previous roles at insurance firms, QBE and Aviva.
Lim joins Markel from QBE where he was actively involved in underwriting various classes of business, including investment management, cyber, medical malpractice, management liability, professional indemnity, and clinical trial. Prior to his five-year tenure at QBE, Ray gained expertise at Aviva across Singapore and London.
In his new role, Lim will continue to drive excellence in underwriting and client service, further strengthening Markel’s position as a leading carrier of financial and professional liability insurance in the Asia Pacific region. This growth exemplifies the organisation’s long-term commitment to international markets, building on a decade of successful establishment of onshore operations in Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Lim will report to Simon Moi, Head of Professional and Financial Risks, Asia, based in Singapore.
