Markel builds PFR capability with strategic Senior Claims appointment

Sydney, 4 February, 2026—Markel Insurance, the insurance operations within Markel Group Inc. (NYSE:MKL), today announced the appointment of Mark Christen as a Senior Claims Adjuster to its Professional and Financial Risks (PFR) team, with immediate effect.

Reporting to Lisa Mitchell, Head of Claims - Australia, Christen will be based in Sydney and will lead on PFR claims handling, including high value and complex claims. He will also play a key role in deepening Markel’s broker relationships and expanding connections in the market. His appointment builds on the PFR claims oversight already provided under Mitchell’s leadership, adding dedicated expertise for brokers and customers.

Christen joins from AXA XL Australia, where he was the Senior Cyber and Technology Claims Specialist, leading their cyber and technology claims portfolio. Prior to that, Christen was a PFR Claims Specialist at Chubb Insurance.
