Markel expands Singapore energy platform to capture Asia Pacific's renewables boom

Singapore, 1 October, 2026 — Markel Insurance, the insurance operations within Markel Group Inc. (NYSE:MKL), today announced the appointment of Rob Jones as Sustainable Energy and Power Underwriter, based in Singapore. Jones's relocation from Markel's London office signals the firm's commitment to strengthening its energy offering in Asia Pacific, as the region stands at the forefront of the global energy transition.

Jones joins the Singapore team as a dedicated energy underwriter in the Asia Pacific market, marking an important step in the continued growth of its local platform. Reporting to Aminah Sulaiman, Senior Underwriter – Energy, he will be responsible for supporting the profitable growth of Markel's renewables and power book across the region, while deepening key client and broker relationships and expanding the breadth of solutions Markel can offer in this space.

Jones brings over a decade of specialist energy insurance experience to the role. Having spent nearly six years in Markel International's claims team in London, he brings first-hand experience of how complex energy losses unfold, and what that means for pricing, structuring and managing risk across the energy transition space.
