Markel invests in local claims talent with dedicated India hire

Mumbai, 13 July, 2026 — Markel Insurance, the insurance operations within Markel Group Inc. (NYSE: MKL), today announced the appointment of Sarika Sagar Gadekar as Claims Adjuster, based in Mumbai, with immediate effect.

Gadekar joins the Asia Claims team with a focus on Marine, overseeing claims arising from Markel's India portfolio across transport, logistics, cargo and specie risks. Working closely with Bo Yu, Head of Claims – Asia, she will act as the primary on-the-ground contact for insureds and brokers, while partnering with underwriters on day-to-day claims decisions.

This appointment is part of Markel's broader commitment to strengthening its claims capability in India as the business continues to grow. It also reflects Markel's wider investment in local talent across Asia Pacific and its focus on empowering teams to make decisions close to clients.

Gadekar brings more than six years of specialist maritime claims experience, joining from CMA CGM Global Business Services India, where she was Associate Manager, Legal (Shipping and Logistics). In that role she led the maritime legal claims function across cargo, container, liability and P&I matters, managing complex, high-value claims.
