Dan joined Markel in March 2010 as an Underwriter in our Hull & War team, progressing to head of class in 2019 and then to Director of Marine in 2023. He began his insurance career at Allianz Cornhill in 1998, holding roles in Cargo, Marine Excess of Loss and Hull & War.
Dan is responsible for overseeing Marine short-tail classes - Hull, War, Cargo, Specie - within our Marine & Energy division.
Dan attended Marshalls Park School in Essex. He currently lives in Essex with his wife, two children and two Labradors and enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include fitness, playing golf and fishing when time allows. Dan is also a keen Liverpool FC supporter.
