Deborah Larkin joined Markel in June 2023 as a Senior Claims Adjuster. She is currently the Claims Manager of our Energy, Construction and Crisis Management claims team.
She began her career as a solicitor (qualified in England & Wales) and spent 15 years working in private practice at CMS Cameron McKenna, Norton Rose Fulbright and Kennedys, advising insurers on coverage and indemnity issues. She also represented her clients in mediation, litigation and arbitration proceedings.
At Markel, Deborah leads a team of five claims adjusters who manage Energy, Power and Crisis Management claims, as well as the new Construction class. She handles complex first- and third‑party claims and works closely with underwriters to develop both standard and bespoke product wordings.
Deborah holds a first-class LLB in Law from the University of Exeter and completed the Legal Practice Course. She continues to maintain her practising certificate as a solicitor qualified in England & Wales.
Deborah is a passionate advocate of diversity, equity and inclusion and ESG issues. She enjoys running, travelling and taking the dog for long walks in the countryside.
“Company culture is incredibly important to me. I joined Markel because I was drawn to the people-first focus of the Markel Style, which celebrates the fact that we all have something unique to bring to the table.”
