Director of Marine Transportation
Grant was appointed Director of Marine Transportation at Markel International in July 2026.
Grant has more than 20 years’ experience across marine specialty lines and underwriting leadership roles. He first joined Markel in 2024 as Director, Marine & Energy Liabilities, before assuming responsibility for Transport & Logistics in 2025.
Prior to joining Markel, he spent over 13 years at QBE Insurance, latterly as Portfolio Manager Specialty, and previously held underwriting roles at Travelers across marine liability, ports and terminals, energy liability and aviation.
Grant is responsible for leading the development of Markel International’s Marine Transportation business, bringing together Hull & Hull War, MECO, Marine & Energy Liabilities, and Transport & Logistics under a single leadership structure. His role includes shaping strategy across multiple classes and geographies, strengthening underwriting capabilities, improving processes and supporting the delivery of tailored solutions for brokers and insureds.
He holds a BA (Hons) in Business Administration from the University of Portsmouth.
