Senior Underwriter
Lida Heaven joined Markel in April 2016 and is now a senior underwriter in our Political Risk team. She began her career as a broker at Aon, working with top-tier banking clients, before moving into underwriting to help develop the Political Risk book at Markel.
Lida has over 10 years’ experience in the Lloyd’s market, working across a diverse range of clients and has expertise in Contract Frustration and Structured Trade Credit business. She is responsible for growing the Political Risk book and developing strong broker relationships as part of an established team with considerable market experience and knowledge.
Lida holds an MA in Middle Eastern Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and a BA (Hons) from the University of York. She also holds the Advanced Diploma in Insurance.
In her spare time Lida enjoys running and watching the latest films. Her favourite book is ‘The Corrections’ by Jonathan Franzen.
