Lisa Mitchell joined Markel in December 2023 as Head of Claims for Markel Australia. Lisa has 24 years of experience within the insurance industry, initially in the UK and for the last 12 years in Australia. Having previously practiced as a solicitor at a multinational firm in the UK, Lisa moved into senior claims handling roles at global insurance companies both in Australia and the UK, managing their most high value and complex claims.
Lisa is an industry leader and expert in claims handling and strategy, focused on working with insurers to achieve the best outcome. She regularly presents at insurance industry functions and contributes thought leadership content. She is responsible for establishing a highly respected claims function at Markel Australia, including developing and implementing strategic plans for the claims department and establishing metrics to measure efficiency and effectiveness of claims handling.
Lisa holds an LLB in Business Law and is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales (non-practising).
