Oliver Atkin joined Markel in September 2017 as an Underwriter in our Equine & Livestock team.
Oliver has over 15 years’ experience in the Lloyd’s Market after first joining Ascot Underwriting in 2010. He began his career as a Graduate, spending eighteen months within Claims and several underwriting teams across London, Chicago and Houston before joining the Political Violence & Terrorism team in London as an Assistant Underwriter. He switched classes of business in early 2015 to join Amlin’s Bloodstock team as an Underwriter before making the move to Markel in 2017.
He is responsible for leading the Markel Bloodstock team in London by setting the bloodstock growth strategy, as well as identifying and developing innovative products to support brokers and customers in the bloodstock space.
He holds a BA (Hons) in Classics from the University of Bristol and has held Associateship status of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) since 2013.
Oliver lives in London with his wife and two children, and splits time away from work between family and travelling the country watching his beloved Charlton Athletic.
