Managing Director, Australia
Rory Morison joined Markel in September 2023 as Managing Director, Australia. Rory has over 20 years’ experience in both the London and Australian insurance markets.
Rory began his career with the Catlin Syndicate at Lloyd’s and went on to help to establish the Catlin Australia branch in 2004. Rory was a Class Underwriter for International Casualty when he moved full time to open an office for Catlin in Melbourne in 2010.
Since then he has been Head of Casualty for Catlin Australia, Head of Casualty Asia Pacific for XL Catlin and Head of Long Tail Lines for AXA XL Australia. Rory is responsible for establishing Markel in Australia. He is doing this by hiring a great team, working with strategic broking partners and bringing Markel’s products to a new market.
Rory holds a BSc (Hons) from Durham University.
Outside of insurance, his happy place is in the kitchen, cooking for friends and family.
