Stephen Rogers

Stephen Rogers joined Markel in September 2023 as Head of QLD, Australia. Stephen has over 27 years of experience within the insurance industry. Post-high school and after completing a business degree, Stephen successfully applied for a claims role at a global insurance company and has remained in the industry ever since. After 10 years in Casualty claims management, Stephen was offered the opportunity to move into underwriting and has been underwriting/managing since then.

Stephen is supporting the establishment of Markel's Brisbane office as well as underwriting in our existing Casualty team. Over time, Stephen will employ more underwriting and claims staff as required.

Stephen holds a business degree majoring in HR. He lives in Brisbane and has two children. As is the Australian way, Stephen loves sport. His favourite pastime is playing golf but unfortunately due to time constraints this only occurs once a month. On weekends, Steve can usually be found in his car being a 'taxi dad' taking his children all around QLD to play sport.
