Markel appoints Ng Yao Hua as Cyber Security Analyst in Singapore

Markel, the insurance operation within Markel Group Inc. (NYSE: MKL), has announced the appointment of Ng Yao Hua as Cyber Security Analyst, further strengthening its investment in cyber security underwriting in the Asia Pacific market.

Ng joins Markel from the public sector where he was a senior cyber security specialist providing consultancy and advisory services. His expertise includes threat risk assessment, network architecture review, compliance review, and security framework development. With over a decade of experience at organisations including GovTech, EY, Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, and Keppel Corporation, Ng brings a wealth of knowledge to Markel's existing cyber underwriting team in the Asia Pacific region.

Ng will support Markel’s cyber underwriting capability in the region by leaning on his significant technology experience to enhance the risk assessment process, while actively supporting brokers and policyholders in developing their knowledge of the dynamic cyber security domain. Ng’s appointment further solidifies Markel’s commitment to assembling a team of top-tier talent in the region and follows recent cyber underwriting hires Pooja Kumari and Isaac Meek, in Dubai and Mumbai respectively. This expansion continues the organisation’s decade-long investment in international markets, with the establishment of successful onshore operations in Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

Ng will report to Simon Moi, Head of Professional and Financial Risks, Asia, based in Singapore.

Christian Stobbs, Managing Director - Asia Pacific, Markel said: "We warmly welcome Ng Yao Hua to the Markel team in Singapore. Given the growing significance of cyber security in the region, Ng’s expertise will be a valuable addition to our mission of creating dependable insurance solutions for businesses across Asia-Pacific."
