Equine Sales Manager
About Reed
Reed’s involvement with horses began in his youth, riding his family’s ranching quarter horses in Oregon during summers spent working on their ranch. He also spent two years in eastern Oregon helping a Native American horse facility tune up customers’ horses.
Reed has been actively involved with horses since 2021, working with multiple horsemanship facilities and veteran equine therapy programs. During his time on active duty in the U.S. Army, he even rode two donkeys and a camel in Afghanistan.
In 2023, Reed started the Two Ravens Foundation, providing veterans with a no-cost source to enjoy horses and bond over horsemanship through initiatives like a veteran horse competition, and has grown many relationships within the horse world for the betterment of participants. Reed retired from the Army on Dec. 1, 2025, after a distinguished 20 years of service, and works with all horse breeds and all disciplines.
Reed joined the Markel team as equine sales manager in January 2026 and is young in the insurance game but has more than 20 years of leadership experience from his Army service, including overseas deployments, where he developed skills in leadership, teamwork, and strategic planning. Reed made the decision to pursue a career in the equine insurance industry, leveraging his passion for horses and supporting fellow veterans. He can’t wait to tie that passion to the team at Markel. Reed leads efforts to support the equine community, including team-building initiatives and targeted outreach to help protect the legacies of horse owners and ranches."
