RICHMOND, Va., Feb. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Markel Corporation (NYSE: MKL) announced today that Jane Peterson has been named Executive Underwriting Officer on the Product Line Leadership team. Peterson oversees the Product and Regulatory Services and Wholesale Binding units. She will work closely with Markel's Wholesale division leadership on underwriting product initiatives.

Peterson brings more than 30 years of experience in the property and casualty industry to Markel. Prior to joining Markel, she served as Executive Vice President of Chubb North America Commercial Insurance.
Peterson is based in Markel's Cranston, Rhode Island, office and reports to Russo at Markel's headquarters in Richmond, Virginia.
