Markel announces executive appointments in North America/Bermuda Claims

RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Markel Corporation (NYSE:MKL) announced today that the two senior claims executives in North America/Bermuda Claims are being promoted.

Nick Conca, a 25-year industry veteran, has been named Chief Claims Officer for North America/Bermuda Claims. He previously served as Chief Claims Officer for Alterra, which was acquired by Markel in May 2013. Conca is an attorney by training and has held senior positions with several leading insurance carriers and brokers. He is based in Markel's New York City office.

Alex Sardinia has been appointed Executive Claims Officer and will assist Conca in leading the Claims organization. Sardinia has been with Markel for the past 10 years and has 30 years of insurance industry claims experience. He is based in Richmond, VA.
